This training introduces the technician to the types of surveys required for the Rain Bird Central Control systems using wireless communication protocols.  Hands-on activities include programming the IQ-NCC-GP and IQ-NCC-WF Network Communication Cartridges using the IQ Configurator software program in addition to programming Spread Spectrum radios. 

Field exercises include conducting site surveys for the following communication protocols:  1) Spread Spectrum Radio 2) General Packet Radio Service(GPRS) 3) Wireless Ethernet (WiFi).  (Requires a working knowledge of the Microsoft Windows operating system).

Course Objectives

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Setup, configure and program the GE MDS Transnet Radios in the 900 MHz and 2.4 GHz Frequency Spectrums.
  2. Setup, configure and program the IQ-NCC GP and IQ-NCC-WF Communication Cartridges.
  3. Conduct a Site Survey using the GE MDS Transnet Radios in the 900 MHz and 2.4 GHz Frequency Spectrums.
  4. Conduct a Site Survey using the Wi-Fi communication protocol for the IQ V2.0 Central Control System.
  5. Conduct a Site Survey using the GPRS communication protocol for the IQ V2.0 Central Control System.

Course Outline

The material is presented in a combination of instructional methods. There will be lectures, demonstrations, and student practice sessions. The overall objective of this class is to introduce and strengthen the Site Survey Technician on the theory and principles of the Site Surveys required for Rain Bird Central Control Systems.  Additionally, methods and procedures to perform actual surveys covering Spread Spectrum Radio, General Packet Radio Service and WiFi will be taught.
